This will definitly help me with my figure drawing and I'm not sure if you already know this' but I've read and have been told that it helps to write out all you character's personalities, habits, and etc. Though when I draw figures. I start at with their eyes and work out from there since for some reason for me, There eyes seem to tell me what their personality will be like. But it could just be me.
I am very glad to hear that from you ^^ I mean the idea helps me by far! Its cool to start off with drawing the eyes first, but in my opinion I normally draw the shape of the face first...Then for some odd reason I start the picture off with drawing the nose....For some reason if I do the nose first I can get an idea where the mouth and eyes will go ^^ So I hope all this really helps ^^
XD Gotta love music!!! Heh heh try not to think so hard about a pose. Think about the character themselves and it can take your skills far! Trust me ^^ Making a pose will come nature once you've got your character jammed packed ^^
Music is a wonderful thing. I really enjoy it when people make playlists for their OCs on 8tracks or something for some reason.
That's the thing, I know my characters really well, but maybe it's because my ridiculous bias towards drawing dynamic poses that it's something other than the character themselves causing the problem...
I think it may be me just not being able to pick a pose, even with all my notes on how they walk and smile and talk and hunch over when they eat etc etc etc...
It's so easy for me to bring the character's personality, expressions, or mannerisms into the piece, and I've taken anatomy, figure drawing, and so on but urrrrggghhhh..... maybe I overthink things. The exception is if they're doing a particular martial art style or dance style or something like that, then it's so easy for me.
(Sorry for the rambling! I guess I'm just venting a little.)
Hey hey you are NOT the only one with that experience xD My mom or my sister would always bust on me drawing my characters nude. They'll come in like "WHERE ARE HER CLOTHES? WHY ARE YOU DRAWING A BUNCH OF NAKED GIRLS? WHY DO YOUR MALE CHARACTER LOOKS LIKE FEMALES? WHERE'S THEIR CROTCHES? XDDDDD And over and over I have to explain....but they never seemed to get it xD So it took me towards having to move into my own place to feel more comfortable about my nude art xDDDD
With me right now I'm working on facial explorations. I'm creating a pair of o.c.'s that I plan on posting soon. One of which has taken me a while to get the right eye style, she's going to be a scary one.
Whaaaaaat? Jonot your trying to make a character? Now that I cannot wait for ^^ I am going to try and make more tutorials and some references on drawing and poses ^^ I hope explaining this helps you in the future ^^
xD yes it is Hard to explain poses xD I am glad that you agree with my pose idea rules ^^ If you think about it, it helps alot! A while back ago I was told this same thing! "Telling a character just how the way look and stand". That's giving them character! heh heh and when it comes to me creating a girl I barely thing about it. I realized trying to imagine what you want your character to look like(first) is doing to much hard thinking...Which to me really isn't necessary in my opinion. What I always say...personality is key and should be the first thing to think about. Once done figuring that out, than your character will turn out looking unique!
